Wow, go away for a year and a half and the site design changes and ~150 messages pile up (luckily mostly just site message... ::warms up delete finger:: ).  I like the new site design, plus it seems much more responsive too!  Nice.

I'm finally going through my photographs from the past year and a half, picking those that I think are good enough to put here, and properly "developing" them.  Been testing out the beta of Adobe Lightroom; it's so much easier to correct the color/exposure/etc. of the photos in that than it is in Paint Shop Pro!! (PSP: Open dialog, adjust, close dialog, open another dialog, adjust, close, re-open old one re-adjust... Fun.)  Lightroom also just plain does a better job (i.e. Rotating images in Lightroom maintains image quality noticeably better than PSP).  I'm going to have to keep up with the betas, and get the official version of Lightroom when it's released!

I've finished adjusting several photos from Russia, which I'll be putting up momentarily.  I hope to get more photos adjusted and posted within the coming weeks.  I'd wanted to go out today and get some photos during the snow/sleet storm... But I couldn't even get out of my driveway...  Urrrmm... probably best that I couldn't leave.

Just got my first digital camera (first camera, period).  Studying abroad in Russia for the year, so I figured that was good enough justification to buy a camera.

Rotate, look; not enough; undo--rotate more, measure; too much; undo--rotate... Tilt; look; perspective's still off; undo... Adjust color; compare; undo--adjust contrast compare---adjust color levels; compare; undo--adjust color again; compare--adjust gamma; undo... adjust contrast; compare; undo... adjust midtones; compare; compare; compare... undo--colorize; EEEkk!!! UNDO--manipulate curves; adjust saturation; compare more; undo, undo, undo, redo, undo, redo undo...  adjust...

Wow, getting digital reproductions of color pieces is a LOT more involved than it is for the plain old pencil stuff!  Thanks to one of my friends, I finally got some acceptable photos of my paintings :)  Just spent about five hours fixing up two of them (and even still, they don't match the originals quite fully); that leaves five more to do, but I need to get to my homework.  I'll get them up once I have time to fix the photos.

Edit: Two more up, three to go.  Last three are a set, so I'll wait until I have time to fix all three photos.

Edit Edit: Last set is up.  All done.  Time to do homework.
